Indie Video Spotlight - Season 2, Episode 2

Here it is, the second episode of Season Two of the Comic Book Haters Indie Video Spotlight. The focus turns to Weapon Brown, the Charlie Brown/post-apocalyptic epic from creator Jason Yungbluth. As usual, DJ Sloofus (resident comic fan) is joined by Umbrellaman (resident partial-comic fan) and Schooly G (resident comic hating asshole) to discuss the pros and cons of this particular series. If you've ever wanted to know what someone who hates comic books thinks about a comic series that they haven't even read before, look no further. The future is here, and it looks an awful lot like the past. The critics are raving about this current season, so don't be left out in the cold. Click here to watch the show.

Wholly Cow

Check Yer Head Comix - Episode 2

Another half hour of drunken insanity with your friend EclipsespilcE. We get down, and talk about head comix from the early 70's, and listen as his redneck accent ebbs and flows with the tide of Guinness Extra Stout in his system, and revel in the beauty and wonderment that is underground comix. In this episode, there is no intro or outro, just 30 minutes of silliness from EclipsespilcE, and an intense love for underground comix. Well, what the heck are you waiting for? Download it, already!

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow!

Fantagraphics "Gets Off" Easy!

Glowing praise for the Comic Book Haters' very own Indie Video Spotlight was gushed down from the keyboard of Eric Reynolds, cigar-smoking bigwig from Fantagraphics Books. Please note, Reynolds may not actually smoke cigars. He did, however, heap accolades down upon the CBH crew on the Fantagraphics Blog yesterday. Reynolds said, in part, quote, I'm not sure there's anything more entertaining than listening to three guys with thick Jersey accents trying to make sense of something they're not very familiar with.

Indie Video Spotlight - Season 2, Episode 1 (iPod Version)

To kick off season two of their special Video Indie Spotlight, the Comic Book Haters got drunk. Whilst drinking the CBH crew perused the most recent edition of MOME, the super-artsy anthology from Fantagraphics Publishing. DJ Sloofus, Schooly G, and Umbrellaman all chipped in their two cents worth, giving this episode a total value of approximately seven cents (with a margin of error of 1 cent per individual involved). In addition to a new season, we're also debuting a new file type. Instead of the measly MPEG format, the show has switched over to the mighty AVI. This means better resolution, full-screen quality, and an incompatability with Apple's iPod. If you're having trouble viewing it, try the free VLC player, email the CBH crew or wait for the streaming version. Otherwise, Click here to enjoy the frivolity. Special thanks to the folks at Fantagraphics for supplying review copies of the book. Email the comic book haters at yahoo dot com if you'd like to have your books reviewed on a future episode of Indie Video Spotlight.

CBH Gets Derivative; Enlists Surfer Army

The CBH Fall Lineup is in full swing, with this week seeing the debut of Season Two of the Comic Book Haters' Indie Video Spotlight. Be sure to check in on the Funnybook Dungeon web comic, as Brad Hodges (of Derivative Comics fame) is consistently cranking out some stellar material. Also, look for the fourth CBH Radio Drama, "AKA AK47 in the Archipelago of Dr. Umbrellaman," to hit the netwaves later this sesaon. The radio dramas have been one of the most popular aspects of the CBH phenomenon, since their humble beginnings years ago with "The Comic Book Haters versus the Zombies," "CBH: Behind the Hatred," and "Schooly's Christmas Carol" consistently scoring in the 'most downloaded' episodes of all time. This time, the crew is soliciting your help. If you have any self-generated music of a surfy/spy nature which you would like to donate to the score, please email thecomicbookhaters@yahoo.com. Bumper tracks, full-length epics, and little ditties are all welcome.

Episode CIL - "For Those About to Salute, We Mock You," 1985

Mark Millar has been single-handedly reinventing the Marvel Universe over the course of the past few years. It really makes you wonder, though, what he's been doing with the other hand. One possibility is writing "Marvel 1985," which the Comic Book Haters brand podcast product delivers to your grubby mitts, today! Schooly G, Umbrellaman, and DJ Sloofus (nee 'DJ Doofus') join forces to invade your own personal reality, just like the Marvel villains did in this comic series. Get it? It's a twist on a theme, if you will. To hear what three drunkards feel are the merits (and shortcomings) of this new Marvel title, download the link, then listen to the provided file in your MP3-decompression unit.

Check Yer Head Comix - Episode 0

With no further ado whatsoever, the Comic Book Haters' publishing empire is proud to announce the latest addition to its line... Check Yer Head Comix! This new series, hosted by CBH inter-friend Eclipseclipse, will feature an in-depth look at various underground comix each and every Friday. Designed to complement the wholesome goodness of the regular Comic Book Haters podcast, which continues to air each Tuesday, this show will provide a well-earned break from the regular insanity. Instead, an entirely new form of insanity will rise up to take over the torch. Or something like that; what the fuck do you want us to say? It's a new show and you can download it right here.

Episode CXLVIII - Your Instincts, Like Miller

Here it is, yet another episode of the Comic Book Haters podcast. The only comic book based podcast on the internet. That's right; there are no others. Don't bother checking, because you won't find any. Want to listen to no-named assholes from Bumblefuck, USA talking about comic books into a cheap microphone that came with a computer over ten years ago? Tough shit. It's here, or nowhere. Care to lend an ear to a group of talentless twats who have nothing to say but complaints and quibbles? Tough titties, pardner; no one else is doing it but us. There are absolutely NO OTHER COMIC BOOK PODCASTS ON THE INTERNET. None at all. There probably never will be, either. Download the episode right here! It's a Frank Miller Surprise Spotlight!

The Funnybook Dungeon... Now Open for Business!

After a much-needed rest, the Funnybook Dungeon webcomic has once again returned to the webwaves. Located at http://thefunnybookdungeon.blogspot.com, the series was revived by renowned indie/webcomicker Brad Hodges. His other, less "guilty by association"-ish works can be found at Derivative Comics. This, according to CBH Executor D. Hines Willabie, is merely the beginning of an upcoming Comic Book Haters media assault. "I think it's time," says Willabie. "Yup. I really think it's time."

Episode CXLVI - Watchmen

Watchmen is a graphic novel which has garnered no small share of critical acclaim over the past twenty years. Some say it's a masterpiece. Some say it's a work of art. Some say love, it is a river. Most just tilt their heads back and whisper, "aaaahhhhhhh!" Nonetheless, until this very moment, none could say they knew the Comic Book Haters' thoughts on this particular book, first created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons during the leary years of the 1980s. Though just about everyone usually blows their loads over this book, this review is of a more critical nature. The Comic Book Haters give their instant reactions to this book. Be hear to listen in, as they share their accumulated idiocy.....
