Schooly, where is the fucking link? Come on man! I wanna get in on this shit before it's passe. Or at least before it's retro-ironic.
No kiddin'!
How am I supposed to know if I'm "friends" with the real comic book haters?
The link is in the forum.
I've got a bone to pick with DJ Sloofus. And that's why I feel compelled to say something about prudish hooligans. I have reason to believe that he is about to control, manipulate, and harm other comic book fans. I pray that I'm wrong, of course, because the outcome could be devastating. Nevertheless, the indications are there that I will stop at nothing to hold out the prospect of societal peace, prosperity, and a return to sane values and certainties. My resolve cannot fully be articulated but it is unyielding. As evidence, consider that DJ Sloofus claims to have data supporting his assertion that a knowledge of correct diction, even if unused, evinces a superiority that covers cowardice or stupidity. Naturally, he insists that he can't actually show us that data—for some unspecified reason, of course. My guess is that he's hiding something. Maybe he's hiding the fact that he will probably never understand why he scares me so much. And DJ Sloofus surely does scare me: His mottos are scary, his philippics are scary, and most of all, we've tolerated his militant comic book newsgroup postings long enough. It's time to lose our patience and chill our kindness. It's time to enlighten the mind of the average comic book reader and improve him as a rational, moral, and social being. It's time to shout to the world that he may preach hatred right after he reads this letter. Let him. As soon as our backs are turned, I will build a world overflowing with compassion and tolerance.
While DJ Sloofus is truly entitled to ignore good advice from intelligent people, the anti-intellectualism "debate" is not a debate. It is a harangue, a politically motivated, brilliantly publicized, sanctimonious attack on progressive ideas. If he truly believes that comic book fans are spare parts in the social repertoire—mere optional extras—then maybe he should enroll in Introduction to Reality 101. I would fain tell DJ Sloofus what we all think of him—and boy, do I have some choice words I'd like to use—but I'm a bit worried that DJ Sloofus will retaliate by forcing me to become clinically depressed. It is a fierce and burning gospel of hatred and intolerance, of murder and destruction, and the unloosing of a rude blood-lust. It is, in every literal sense, a mudslinging and pagan religion that incites its worshippers to a meretricious frenzy and then prompts them to dismantle funny book organizations by driving a wedge between the fans and the creators. To him I say "fuck you".
Yeah, I can see your point there.
