Episode XXXV - Ultimate Comic Book Haters: The Podcast

For many fans, the Ultimate Avengers movie is manna from heaven. For those with discerning tastes and sophisticated expectations, however, it was greeted with yawns and jeers. Regardless, the Comic Book Haters have taken it upon themselves, as their civic duty, to watch the entirety of the film (though Sloofus did step outside for a few scenes). Also, throwing caution to the wind, the CBH crew also takes a look at Image's "Bomb Queen" title. Will they 'shit where they sleep,' and are the boys capable of giving an honest review to a title produced by one of their listeners? Only the fans will know for sure.

The music that's been featured on recent episodes all stems from local rock bands. They pay us a shitload of money to put the songs up there, which we're happy to accept.

What the fuck is up with the new guy emcee treky?

He has all the personality of the dead Goldfish I forgot to feed.

Between the lame incidental music and the new "guests" That are, I'm guessing, what, picked up off the street?

C'mon boys find your center-
Is this an old tired war horse or a crisp & hip haters show?

I say F Anonymous 8:24pm. MC Trekkie seemed like a good addition-- it may give Sloofus some backup to have someone else who will actually read the comic, too (even if he steals from the only creator on the forum) so that it won't always be Sloofus vs. everybody. So I give my vote to MC Trekkie.

I applaud the addition of MC Trekkie. He brings a certain spark to the show.

With that said, my only complaint from this episode was that it sounded as though MC Trekkie obtained the comic being reviewed from a Bit Torrent. I hope this is not the case. I hope that I simply misunderstood. I would hate to think that MC Trekkie participated in the anarchy known as peer to peer downloading. I know that there are many young people listening to the show. Many of them not only look up to The Comic Book Haters, but also to the cast of characters that make up the extended The Comic Book Hater universe. Downloading comic scans does not put dinner on the Jimmie Robinson family table.

Perhaps MC Trekkie could put out a Public Service Announcement (PSA) against downloading scans. A similar approach was used by our government to stomp out recreational drug use and child abuse. Both activities are now almost nonexistent in today's society. I credit the mighty PSA for this fact. I used to believe that it was okay to whack your kid until Ross from Friends told me it wasn't. Imagine my surprise! If a PSA stopped drug abuse and child abuse, it can work for downloading comic scans too.

Peter Rios here. Though I don't listen to your show, I get what you are trying to do. I really do. I do like to stop by and monitor what is going on here. Not just your blog, but your forum too. We have not decided to have Jimmie Robinson on our show yet. As it is now, it's an even split for and against having an interview with him. It doesn't have to be a unanimous decision. I think the only guest we all agreed on was the great Stan Lee. That was incredibly special because Mr. Lee is very selective in what he does. It's very rare that he agrees to do an interview. Being that he is one of our listeners helped get him on our show. Not only are we fans of his work, he is a fan of our work too. If we decide to interview Jimmie Robinson, you can expect his sales to go up. Right now we have over 2,700 listeners to our show. What we say carries incredible weight with out listeners. It's been said many times that we can make or break an independent comic. Even if we don't select him for an interview, we may green light our listeners to read his new comic. We haven't decided yet.

Peter Rios, Where you get off saying that Stan Lee listens to your show? You have got to be kidding. I highly doubt that he would even bother listening to your show.

I think you need to dial down that ego of yours.

Peter Rios here. Yes, I read your blog. I read your forum. I even listen to your show. We like to keep track of other comic podcasts. Since we are responsible for so many of the comic podcasts out there right now, we have a responsibility to our listeners to keep up with what is going on with the shows we inspired.

Stop by our booth in NY.

Peter Rios here. I never listened to the show. That is until another one of the hosts told me to give it a listen. I wont say who it was, but I will say it wasn't Bry. He is pretty ticked off at you guys. I get what you guys are trying to do, but he does not.

If you guys are going to be in NY this weekend, drop by our table. We are signing through out the day.

Fake Peter Rios, please prove your identity to these non-believers by answering a question only you would know: What color is Schooly's underwear? (Not counting stains)

Peter Rios here. Don't ask me about Schooly's underwear. Ask Cappy. He could easily give you an answer considering all the times Schooly's underpants have been lying on his bedroom floor.

See, I do get what you are doing! Stop by our table and I will hook you up with a shirt.
