Episode CV - To Schooly, With Hate

They don't make women like Mary Perkins anymore. Once bitten, twice shy, this lovely lass has run the gamut of relationship woes. Leonard Starr spent countless hours of his life depicting her exploits, when he could have been out 'making it' with real, live women instead. The Comic Book Haters take a close look at this classic comic strip, which apparently is only deemed such because it is old. Also, a lesser-known collection entitled "Maus: A Survivor's Story" is finally given some much needed attention. Grab the episode right here, then send them an email. Also, the forum seemed to inexplicably revert back in time one year. We can't explain it, either.

CBH: Annual #1

Inspired by a once-mighty comic book tradition which now lay dormant, slowly withering on the vine, the Comic Book Haters present to you their very first "Annual." Consider this an 'extra' episode this week. Not because of the expediency of its delivery, but rather for its plethora of insight, information, and opinions. In an era which the monthly installmant (ironically referred to as 'chapbooks' by the uber-literates) is about as environmentally potent as a three-legged mammoth wading in knee-deep in tar, what chance can its retarded older brother, the Annual, have? Discover the answer to all of these questions, and more, within the pages of the Comic Book Haters' Summer Annual #1.

Outside the Comic Book Haters Studio IX - Chris Wisnia

The Comic Book Haters are proud to venture outside of their own domain and into the realm of one Chris Wisnia. The indie-sensation, best known as the creator of Dr. DeBunko and Doris Danger, engages himself in a conversation about old monster comics, self-publishing, and the afterlife. Wisnia's dead-on recreations of the classic Atlas horror comics of the 1950s are essential reading for anyone interested in the genre. Perhaps 'recreations' isn't quite the proper term, as the stories Wisnia creates, though visually similar to the source material, maintain a sensibility all of their own. Join us in this chat, won't you? He might not be quite as popular as some of the cartoonists who draw stories about getting dumped or feeling a bit 'blue,' but Wisnia is A-OK in Comic Book Hater land.

Episode CIII - Pre-traumatic Stress Disorders

Ahhh, Sinestro. Remember when things were different? You had a job, a military pension, and some of the snazziest duds this side of Djunubistan III. Well, in retrospect, your birth name probably should have prepared you for the sordid path your life would eventually take. What have you been up to lately? What's that? Forging your own army? Well, that just sounds like a ridiculous idea. Is this really the life you envisioned for yourself? Even these two assholes are making fun of you.

Episode CII - An Epic For Our Minds

Often, Friday the 13th forebodes death, doom and delinquent payments. For this particular occurrence, however, it can be considered quite the boon, at least for listeners of the Comic Book Haters' podcast. Join the erstwhile commentators as they fulfill their namesake towards the debut issue of Skull Pen, preceded by a deconstruction of Garth Ennis's controversial new title, The Boys. CBH Request User Submissions!

Hey Gang. It's summer time and the livin' is sleazy. You enjoy listening to the mellow sounds of the Comic Book Haters- why not get in on that shit yourself? The CBH crew is now accepting user submissions! (Truthfully, we always have. Ask Stiltfan or SFRick.)

Guidelines:
1) Must be in MP3 format.
2) Must be less than 5 minutes long.

That's it! All you need is a microphone (the shittier the better- you should see the one the crew uses in the Funnybook Dungeon) and a program that records in MP3 format. Click the following link to get a free (and legal) program, just like CBH uses! Audacity is free, easy to use, and multi-platform.

Send it on it to thecomicbookhaters@yahoo.com and there's a 99.9% chance your submission will air in a future episode (Schooly is kind of an asshole and could veto. We should never have given him that power in the CBH Constitution.)

Have fun, assholes!
